History
Ashton-under-Lyne Target Sports Club is a relatively new rifle and pistol shooting club starting life in January 2016 , starting out as a target sports club to facilitate target shooting in scouts.
In spring of 2017 it was recommended by a local NSRA County Coach at Ashton-under-Lyne Rifle Club that we establish a separate club to facilitate the delivery of training for Target Sprint.
However it quickly became apparent that the scope of the new club needed to cover other disciplines for novices like Sporter Air rifle, Air Pistol and 10 metre Bench Rest to meet the needs of the younger and novice shooters who predominately come from a scouting, cadet or athletic background.
The future is exciting
The club now has access to athletic indoor and outdoor track facilities and range facilities allowing training on multiple disciplines, including gallery rimfire rifles and sports crossbow.
The club is building from a small base and will look to affiliate with other organisations as required to open competitive opportunities for our shooters and athletes.
We support the British Shooting Greater Manchester Hub for Target Sprint, running National level events and regular training sessions.
The club is affiliated with the National Smallbore Rifle Association, who are the national governing body for our sport, as well as Tameside Sports Network who support clubs in the area.
